Circa is a Los Angeles auction house for collectible 20th-century design: modernist furniture, sculptural garden pieces, lighting, art and objects, available to preview at Mission Road and to bid on directly online.
The principle
“Bid on rare modern design.”
An auction house built around objects that have aged well.
Circa Auction House sells collectible 20th-century design from a warehouse showroom in Lincoln Heights: modernist furniture, sculptural garden pieces, lighting, ceramics, art and decorative objects. The sales lean outdoors — garden furniture, planters and architectural objects — and are filled out with an eclectic selection of indoor furnishings.
Many of the works have spent decades in gardens, terraces and homes, developing the patina, weathering and signs of use that make each piece entirely unique. Rather than erasing that history, the surfaces tell it. Aged metal, worn finishes, mossy concrete and sun-faded materials give the collection a character that could only have developed over time.
A sale runs roughly every three weeks. Every lot can be inspected in person at Mission Road before bidding opens, and every designer has a page here explaining who they were and what to look for.
249 South Mission Road.
Objects on a concrete floor under daylight, arranged so you can walk around them. It is a destination, not storage — and it is the reason buyers trust condition here.
This site is the catalogue. Bidding happens on the Circa platform.
Registration, bidding, invoices and payment all run on bid.circaauctionhouse.com. Circa runs its own bidding — bidders register with us directly, rather than through a marketplace that owns the relationship.
Everything on this site — designers, objects, collections, results and the journal — exists to make that decision easier before you get there. Your account on the bid platform is separate from anything you save here.
Where the rest of it lives.
Films from the floor, new arrivals and the occasional field note.
